On a regular day in Varanasi, you’ll be surrounded by the loud sounds of conch shells, the powerful chants of mantras, the soft murmurs of countless hopes, and the deep cultural heritage of a vibrant history.

IRCTC has made it even easier to visit the city by launching a new Vande Bharat Express train – an extension of the existing Meerut-Lucknow route.

Covering 783 km, this semi-high-speed train starts in Meerut and takes about 11 hours and 50 minutes to reach its final stop.

Making five stops along the way – Hapur, Moradabad, Bareilly, Lucknow NR, and Ayodhya, which is the latest addition.

People have the option to select between two seating arrangements on trains 22490 and 22489: AC Chair Cars and Executive Chair Cars, both of which are recognized for providing a comfy travel experience.

With the new ease of travel, if you’re feeling adventurous and want to check out the city, make sure to add these experiences to your list.

1)Sunrise at Assi Ghat

There’s something really poetic about catching the sunrise while Vedic chanting plays in the background. It calms the chaos around you and pulls you inward.

The lovely mornings at Assi Ghat are filled with devotees saying their prayers, locals doing yoga, and a peaceful vibe that really captures the essence.

The Subah-e-Banaras program kicks off before sunrise and is a daily tradition that enchants visitors with classical music and performances.

2)Explore the Narrow Lanes of the Old City

Taking a casual walk through the narrow streets of Banaras is like stepping into a vibrant painting.

Every wall shares a tale, stirring a deep connection to our cultural roots.

From historic temples to long standing sweet shops, every corner has its own narrative.

3)Enjoy a boat ride on the Gangs

If it’s early morning or late evening, taking a boat ride along the ghats is something you have to do at least once.

Usually, it takes you along the whole bank, with the oarsman sharing stories about the importance and history of each ghat.

It’s like a living postcard of Varanasi – you’ll see priests praying, kids jumping into the river, and ancient palaces keeping an eye on everything.

4)The Cashier Vishwanath Temple

Kashi Vishwanath Temple is one of the 12 Jyotirlingas, making it one of the most revered Hindu temples globally.

People from all over come to visit this historic temple, with lines starting to form as early as 3 AM.

On a busy day, the lines can stretch through the winding streets.

Although the temple area has been revamped under the Kashi Vishwanath Corridor Project, the original gold-plated temple, thought to be over 2,000 years old, remains standing.

The tall spires and ongoing chants create a profound sense of respect.
