The Indian spinners wove a tricky web around Bangladesh, causing them to lose wickets consistently, which allowed the Men in Blue to secure a spot in the final on Sunday, eliminating Sri Lanka in the process.

Match Summary

When India began their batting, the first three overs of the Powerplay were pretty quiet, but things picked up in the fourth over when Gill and Abhishek smashed 21 runs off left arm spinner Nasum Ahmed, each hitting a six.

Abhishek, currently enjoying a stellar phase, struck six fours and five massive sixes in his impressive innings.

He seemed on track for a century, but a brilliant one handed stop and a quick throw from Rishad Hossan, who was positioned at short third man, sent him back to the dugout.

On the flip side, the Indian batsmen made some questionable shots – be it Shubman Gill, Tilak Varma, or captain Suryakumar Yadav, who was spectacularly caught down the leg side by the stand-in captain and keeper Jaker Ali.

After scoring 96 in the first 10 overs, India only managed to get 72 in the next 10, with Axar Patel (10 off 15 balls), who was promoted ahead of Samson, seeming a bit out of his element.

On the Bangladesh side, pacer Tanzim Hasan Sakib (1/29 in 4 overs) appeared to be faster than what the speedometer indicated, while Mustafizur Rahaman (1/33 in 4 overs) effectively utilized his change of pace deliveries as usual.

However, leg spinner Rishad Hossain (2/27 in 3 overs) deserves a ton of credit
for tossing the ball up and taking the
key wickets of Gill and Shivam Dube,
a player who typically handles wrist spinners well, helping Bangladesh bounce back into the game after a rough Powerplay.

Abhishek Sharma smashed a quick 75 off 37 balls, but the other batsmen couldn’t step up, leaving India with a decent total.

India managed to put up a total of 168 runs for six wickets in a Super 4 match during the Asia Cup on Wednesday.

Bangladesh opener Saif Hassan made a quick half-century, leading the score with 69 runs off 51 balls, which included five sixes.

Unfortunately, he didn’t get much help, as Parvez Hossain Emon was the only other player to hit double digits with 21 runs off 19 balls.

Kuldeep Yadav took 3 wickets for 18 runs, while Jasprit Bumrah and Varun Chakravarthy each claimed two wickets, resulting in Bangladesh being all out for 127 in the last over.

The defending champions, India, secured their place in the Asia Cup final after beating Bangladesh by 41 runs.
