India’s opener Shafali Verma delivered a match-winning performance with the bat in last month’s Women’s World Cup final against South Africa, earning her the ICC ‘Player of the Month’ award for November.

Shafali stepped in as a substitute for the injured Pratika Rawal during the semifinal against Australia.

She scored an impressive 87 off 78 balls – the highest score by an Indian opener in a Women’s World Cup final.

This helped the team reach a massive total of 298 for 7, leading to a 52-run victory and their first-ever World Cup trophy in Navi Mumbai.

She formed a solid 104-run partnership with fellow opener Smriti Mandhana, laying the groundwork for that big score.

At just 21, Shafali outperformed Thailand’s Thipatcha Putthawong and UAE’s Esha Oza to claim her first ‘Player of the Month’ award.

On the men’s side, South Africa’s Simon Harmer took home the award for his outstanding bowling performance in the Test series against India, where the Proteas triumphed 2-0.

At 36, he achieved a remarkable total of 17 wickets throughout the series, marking South Africa’s first Test series victory in India in 25 years.

He recorded impressive figures of four for 30 and four for 21 in the opening match in Kolkata, followed by three for 64 and six for 37 in the second game in Guwahati, finishing the series with his 17-wicket tally at an average of 8.94 and an economy rate of 1.91.
