The Dallas Stars were able to contain Connor McDavid’s impact for two games, but Game 3 showed that it is only possible to contain a player of his caliber for so long. McDavid scored two goals and his constant pressure helped turn the tide in Edmonton’s favor, and Zach Hyman equaled his effort with two goals and an assist, leading the offensive surge that overpowered the Stars and restored control of the series.

The Oilers won because they were able to take advantage of crucial situations. At 13:52 in the first period, a contentious play that the Stars had anticipated would result in a delay-of-game call went against them. Evan Bouchard’s slap shot opened the scoring a few seconds later. Rogers Place was rocked by McDavid’s second goal, which came just 36 seconds later. For the remainder of the evening, that two-goal outburst established the tone.

In Game 3 of the Western Conference Final, the Edmonton Oilers defeated the Dallas Stars 6-1 because to the play of Connor McDavid and Zach Hyman. The Oilers currently have a 2-1 series lead and are leading going into Game 4 thanks to important goals and solid effort from their supporting players.

Beyond the headliners, Edmonton’s depth was evident during pivotal times. Hyman’s goals in the third period cemented the victory, and Evander Kane and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins combined for six assists. Hyman, who recorded 10 hits and maintained his playoff tendency of being a force on both ends, also contributed physical vigor.

Dallas has a difficult battle ahead of it. They need to win three of the next four games to advance, as they have only three goals at even strength after three games. Even while they had moments of pressure, particularly in the second period, they don’t have the same level of consistency or finish that Edmonton is producing across the board.

Edmonton lost Game 1 but has already won two in a row. In the past, teams that prevailed in Game 3 of a 1-1 conference final have progressed around 75% of the time. The Oilers will try to drive Dallas to the limit in Game 4 at Rogers Place with momentum solidly on their side and a 5-1 home record in the postseason.
