Out of 19 matches in the upcoming Asia Cup, 18 will kick off half an hour later than planned due to a heat wave affecting the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) shared this update on Saturday, stating that the new start time for the matches will be 6:30 PM local time (8 PM IST).

This change applies to all of India’s matches, except for the one day game between UAE and Oman, which is set to start at 4 PM local time at the Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi.

Temperatures have skyrocketed to all time highs at the beginning of August, with some areas in the country hitting 47 degrees Celsius.

This spike in temperature came after the UAE experienced its hottest April and May ever, as reported by the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM).

“The kickoff time for 18 of the 19 DP World Asia Cup 2025 matches has been changed. They will now start at 6:30pm local time (Gulf Standard Time)”, the ECB mentioned in a statement on its website.

According to the first schedule released by the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) earlier this month, the matches were set to kick off at 6 PM local time.

The Dubai International Cricket Stadium is set to host the thrilling India-Pakistan Group A match on September 14.

The match on Monday, 15 September between UAE and Oman will kick off at 4:00pm local time at the Zayed Cricket Stadium, Abu Dhabi – the sole day game of the tournament.
