Earlier today (September 14,2025), Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty faced off against China’s Liang Weikeng and Wang Chang in the men’s doubles final, but unfortunately, they lost in the games.

After taking the first game, Satwik and Chirag couldn’t keep up the momentum and ended up losing 21-16, 14-21, 17-21.

This match marked the 10th encounter between these two former world No 1 pairs.

Match Summary

Satwik and Chirag made it to their first final since May 2024, clinching a tough Game 1 and seemed ready to keep the good vibes going.

However, chaos erupted when a fired up Liang-Wang hit the court with fierce energy, unleashing a barrage of powerful smashes that easily snatched Game 2 from the Indians.

With everything on the line, it was the Chinese pair who stepped up again, sprinting to a 5-0 lead right from the start, while Satwik and Chirag appeared completely out of sync, struggling against the aggressive home team.

After zooming to an 11-2 advantage by the midpoint, it looked like Liang-Wang were set for an easy win. But a few mistakes and a determined effort from the Indians pushed them hard, forcing six match points before they finally wrapped it up at 17-21.

With this victory, the Chinese duo took home the gold and claimed their first title of the season.

Indians’ flawless record in Super 500 finals came to a disappointing end.
