World No. 1 Magnus Carlsen is being beaten by reigning world champion Gukesh in the current Norway Chess tournament. With nine rounds completed and one game remaining, Carlsen leads with 15 points, followed closely by Gukesh (14.5 points).

Carlsen said to Take Take Take, “After the loss against Gukesh, My tournament was almost done”.

“While defeating Fabiano Caruana was pleasant, it wasn’t really motivating”. In addition, he admitted that he was “more mentally than physically exhausted”.

When Carlsen lost against Gukesh, he slamming his fist into the table and sighed in frustration, “Oh my God”.

Carlsen later disclosed that he was thinking of giving up playing classical chess.

“I don’t think it was enjoyable—not the incident, but the game versus Gukesh. “I need to think about ways to avoid it. Perhaps I should give up playing classical chess entirely”, he remarked. “I didn’t find it enjoyable at all. Although I think I did well overall in the tournament, I don’t think playing is enjoyable. I’m not concerned with my level”.

Carlsen and Gukesh are separated by just half a point going into Friday night’s final round. One of them has a good chance of winning the crown.

Magnus Carlsen will face Arjun Erigaisi, and Gukesh will face Caruana. After defeating Caruana, Carlsen posted on Chess24, “Honestly, I think it would have meant a lot to me if I had defeated Gukesh and gone on to play in a great tournament”.

Now, it would be somewhat of a stumble into victory, no matter what happened. Like, even though I had a very decent possibility of losing the tournament, it wouldn’t really matter to me this much.”The desire to compete in a top-tier event was dashed during the match (against Gukesh). It’s not that crucial, but I do want to win”.
