If you ask any pet owner, they’ll say their furry pals are basically family.

Each one has its own tale to tell- those times when their pets seemed just like human buddies.

The connection they have is really emotional.

Every pet owner bond is unique, but some stories stand out where pets amazed everyone with their love, loyalty, and dedication.

Across the world, a few of these remarkable pets have even been commemorated with statues.

1)Hachiko(Tokyo,Japan)

Hachiko’s story is one of the most beloved pet tales ever.

This Akita Dog waited at the station every single day for almost ten years after his owner died.

He turned down all attempts to find him a new home and just wandered around the station.

Now, in Tokyo’s Shibuya district, there’s a bronze statue of Hachiko that celebrates his loyalty and devotion.

2)Kostya (Tolyatti, Russia)

After a heartbreaking car accident took his owners, this faithful German Shepherd stayed at the same spot by the road for seven long years.

The locals named him “Kostya” and looked after him, providing food and shelter.

He turned down any offers for adoption.

A statue called Loyalty was built to honor his incredible loyalty.

3)Dzok(Krakow, Poland)

In the lively city of Krakow, there’s a touching statue of a sad looking dog held in a massive pair of hands.

This is the place where Dzok lost his owner.

For an entire year, the grieving dog came back, waiting.

The locals, inspired by his devotion, finally put up the statue – despite some initial push back -as a tribute to their connection.

4)Hamish McHamish(St. Andrews,Scotland)

In the university town of St. Andrews,
a bronze statue honors Hamish
McHamish, a cherished ginger tom who
wandered around and made friends with both locals and visitors.

Shops displayed “Hamish’s recommended” book selections, and students frequently paused to say hello to him.

After he passed away, the town grieved-
and commemorated him with a statue.

5)Bobby(Edinburgh, Scotland)

This little, fluffy dog from Scotland changed the way we see the bond between dogs and people.

Lovingly known as Greyfriars Bobby, this Skye Terrier stayed by his late owner’s grave for 14 long years.

The people of Scotland were so touched by his devotion.

They put up a life size bronze statue in 1873, on top of a drinking fountain close to the grave.

6)Fala(Washington,D.C., USA)

Fala was not just a pet – he was a loyal friend to U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt.

This little terrier frequently joined him at events, traveled with him, and even starred in a movie about life in the White House.

A statue of Fala can be found next to Roosevelt at the Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial.

This making him the only presidential pet to receive such an honor.

7)Towser(Perthshire,Scotland)

A record setting cat with a job – Towser resided at Glenturret Distillery and caught more than 28,000 mice during her
lifetime, earning a Guinness World
Record.

In exchange, she was given food, shelter, and plenty of admiration.

A statue at the distillery pays tribute to the working cat who helped keep the whisky production going.

8)Fido(Borgo San Lorenzo,Italy)

Italians are famous for their warmth
and passion, just like Carlo Soriani,
who took in Fido, a stray dog.

The two formed a close bond, but then tragedy hit in 1957 when Soriani was killed in a bombing.

Fido waited at the bus stop for 14 years, hoping he would come back.

The town later paid tribute to him with a lovely statue.

9)Tombili(Istanbul,Turkey)

Anyone who’s been online for a while has probably come across the image of a plump grey cat relaxing on a bench.

That cat was Tombili, a beloved local and internet sensation in Istanbul.

She wasn’t a pet in the usual way, she won over many hearts.

Following her passing in 2016, her fans campaigned for – and succeeded in getting a statue made in her famous pose.
